Thinking Beat. In conjunction with the Beat Culture and the New America exhibition, we designed a line of products for the Whitney Museum store. Besides the usual t-shirts, mugs and mousepads, we created some things that celebrated the Beats in a more conceptual way. Tools for Modern Prose contains 30 pencils (with no erasers—Beats don't edit), each silkscreened with a line (example: "try never get drunk outside yr own house") from Jack Kerouac's "List of Essentials." Meanwhile, Beatnik Bob is a custom-made classic toy that parodies pop culture's reaction to the Beats.
