Scott Stowell is the proprietor of Open. Before starting Open, Scott was the art director of Benetton's Colors magazine in Rome and a senior designer at M&Co. New York. Before that, he received a BFA in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design. Gary Fogelson proudly hails from an ex-farm town in central New Jersey, where his previous jobs included stocking bread, selling dog food and painting houses. In high school he took an interest in graphic design and moved to Brooklyn in 2000 to continue his studies at Pratt Institute. Shortly after graduating, Gary found his way to Open where he is now a designer--solving problems, doing research, and ordering lunch. Gary also likes taking photos, eating, and riding his bike to work.
Robert Di Ieso grew up in an average town in upstate New York. After learning all about "business" by selling used cars (while sporting the same cheap necktie every day), he graduated from Purchase College. After that he moved to Brooklyn and worked at a couple of design firms that specialize in environmental graphic design. Now at Open he is doing more environmental graphic design as well as broadcast, identity, and print design. Rob loves silkscreening, longs for the distant future, and hopes that one day scientific endeavor will gain mass appeal.
Serifcan Ozcan ate lunch half an hour before this was written. Before that he had coffee and a sesame bagel, before that he graduated from SVA MFA Design, before that he came to New York, and before that he had a vacation on the Aegean coast, which was after he left his job as an art director at an ad agency, which was after he worked at 20ml photography & design studio, which was after he graduated from Bilkent University in Ankara--and all of this of course happened after he was born in September 1982.
Simone Pillinger was born in Sydney, Australia and studied commerce and law at the University of Western Australia and Murdoch University. Besides producing Open's motion-graphics projects, Simone also does some professional gardening (she studied landscape design at the Bronx Botanical Garden) and is working on a children's book.
